Board Member

Cedric M. Powell Sr. born and raised in Peoria, IL until moving to the St. Louis region for college at the age of 18 is a entrepreneur with two thriving restaurants in the region. He has a passion for community, helping those in need making sure to keep the focus on them and them only. He is on the board of directions for Gentlemen of Vision, a program that has a focus on young black males and the need to keep them enrolled in high school and on to some type of post-secondary education. He is a major supporter of the Urban League’s program Save Our Sons initiative that helps men of any background find and maintain employment, not only has he taught classes to the men but many years later still employees anyone sent his way from that very program. From the Korey Johnson foundation to those who he comes into contact within the community, he is definitely someone who doesn’t mind giving back selflessly.
His love for community is expressed in his favorite Dr. King quote. “Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
